The Chinese gymnastics team won its first Olympic gold medal yesterday. While they were celebrating Martha Karolyi, US national team coordinator, noticed that one of the girls was missing a tooth. Later she suggested that the girl had lost her baby tooth and that she might be underage.

Leading up to the Olympics, some official Chinese sports registration lists in China suggested that half of the Chinese women’s team did not meet the age requirement of turning 16 in 2008.
But Deng — who is listed as 16, is 4 foot 6, 68 pounds — was not one of those gymnasts.
He Kexin, Yang Yilin, Jiang Yuyuan may be as young as 14, according to some on-line lists, which have now been blocked or have disappeared completely.
The international gymnastics federation and the Chinese team officials said those gymnasts were eligible, and that the ages on their passports were correct.
Still, the Chinese and the Americans were competing on the same apparatus with each rotation, so their differences in body types were glaring.
The Chinese gymnasts lack curves and have an average height of 4 foot 9 and an average weight of 77 pounds. The women on the U.S. team, generally more muscular and shapely than the Chinese, are 3 1/2 inches taller and 30 pounds heavier.

Fue muy raro todo...los chinos están muy cabrones, ví a las de clavados sincronizados y eran perfectas, ví la gimnasia y me quedé anonadada, precisamente porque se ven muy pequeñas (de edad) y porque le ganaron a Rusia, Rumania y EUA. Sea como sea soy fan
¡Pero son unos falsificadores de cantantes y de gimnastas! Con esos cuerpos de niñas de 13, 14 años, ¿Cómo no les van a ganar a las otras, que al menos tenían 16?
Lo mejor fue que ante esas acusaciones, las chinas dijeron que las gringas se dopaban y que por eso estaban tan grandes.
